British Airways reopen Heathrow T5 lounge
BA has announced that it will be re-opening the T5 North Club lounge at Heathrow. Lounges were always exempt from the current shutdown if they were airside, but it has taken a while for BA to re-open again. It’s not as good as before as you will read below, but it is somewhere quiet and comfortable to sit.
British Airways said
“We have listened to your feedback and we’re happy to announce that from Monday, 16 November, we will be re-opening our Galleries North Club lounge as a customer waiting area with a reduced selection of grab and go items. “
The grab and go items include a selection snacks and sandwiches. Drinks are still available with a choice of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks as well as tea, coffee and other hot drinks. These will be available to order/pick up at the hosted bar area.
The normal “Your Menu service” will return once the UK national restriction period has been lifted and BA says that they intend to re-open our Galleries South Club and Galleries First lounges at Terminal 5 as soon as they can. With a much wider range of long haul destinations opening up, I think there is likely to be an upturn in passenger numbers once the lockdown finishes.
The lounge will be open 05:00 to 22:00, Monday to Sunday. You can find more details about what BA services area available here.
Third-party and partner lounge access is still available at selected locations. You can check here to see if your BA departure or arrivals lounge is open.
If any TLFL readers are travelling through Heathrow and use the lounge, we would love to hear about your experience!

Hi Michele
Thanks as always for the tip off, much appreciated.
But — WHAT ABOUT THE CONCORDE ROOM?
I mean, don’t BA realise that you have a CCR key ready to use?! 😉
Surely if an upturn in winter sun bookings, BA should be looking to reopen that too during the winter …
and also return their onboard service to normal soon?
What do you think will happen? Surely BA under a new boss have to be seeing what competitors have been offering for a while now and respond asap?!
Cheers
G
I don’t think the CCR will open before next spring as I can’t see there being enough business travellers to justify the staff needed. I know that the current onboard improvements are only one step of a plan to work more towards a normal service. I think if we get the proposed reduction to quarantine and it results in more booking after lockdown then we may see some more improvements on board then. Despite Sean taking over, I can see him being pretty cautious until the next few months demand is more certain.
