Remember you can see all our Black Friday articles here for 2023.
Fares on Qatar have been extremely high recently. Even taking that into account, the Black Friday deals from Qatar are frankly poor, especially since they have reduced the benefits on the lowest price fares. The only ray of light is that UK deals have a few destinations that are the same price as from Europe which is unusual. The vast majority of these other than Australia are also substantially cheaper than last years UK offers.
The fares will be business class lite, meaning no lounge access or seat selection unless you have status. However, you can pay for these as extras. If you have status, then the new frequent flyer lounges are pretty good, so I’d be very happy to book a lite fare in future. You can see my review of the new lounges here.
Whether we see any other deals that are not advertised pop up remains to be seen.
In this post:

These are the cheapest prices in the UK for each destination on Qatar Airways in the sale.
Edinburgh | Dubai | £2212 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Muscat | £2144 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Bangkok | £2654 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Phuket | £2645 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Kuala Lumpur | £2920 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Hong Kong | £2638 | Qatar Airways |
Edinburgh | Hanoi | £3486 | Qatar Airways |
Manchester | Singapore | £2868 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Seychelles | £2561 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham/Manchester | Maldives (Male) | £2913 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Cape Town | £2880 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Johannesburg | £2478 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Mount Kilimanjaro | £2329 | Qatar Airways |
London Gatwick | Sydney | £5403 | Qatar Airways |
London Gatwick | Perth | £5248 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Goa | £2453 | Qatar Airways |
Birmingham | Mumbai | £2404 | Qatar Airways |
Don’t forget they will likely be in the new business classic, which does not automatically give seat selection or lounge access. However, if you have status, I would definitely have no hesitation in booking since you can still select seats and have lounge access to their new frequent flyer lounges, which are decent. You can read more here about lite fares.
It’s also worth checking the price with BA as they can be slightly cheaper for booking Qatar Airways flights and you do get lounge access and seat selection.

Ex EU deals
The EU deals are slightly better. While if you are still working on fares for 2019-2021 they may seem high, for 2023 they are not bad. Airfares are still very high currently, particularly for Qatar Airways, and these are ok deals.
The cheapest starting points and fares are:
To | Prices from | Cheapest Departure points |
Dubai and Abu Dhabi | £1,125 | Belgrade, Oslo, Sofia |
Muscat | £1,771 | Milan, Amsterdam |
Ras Al Khaimah | £1,348 | Belgrade |
Maldives | £2,189 | Rome, Athens |
Seychelles | £2,203 | Belgrade, Copenhagen |
Johannesburg | £1,966 | Rome, Brussels, Amsterdam, Munich |
Cape Town | £2,160 | Dublin, Amsterdam, Munich |
Colombo | £2,237 | Sofia |
Mount Kilimanjaro | £2,187 | Paris |
Goa | £1,968 | Milan |
Hong Kong | £1,982 | Stockholm, Dublin |
Bangkok | £1,883 | Oslo, Sofia, Amsterdam, Budapest |
Phuket | £2,120 | Belgrade, Rome, Amsterdam |
Singapore | £2,075 | Sofia, Frankfurt, Munich, Dublin, Nice |
New Delhi | £1,716 | Bucharest, Warsaw |
Hanoi | £2,081 | Warsaw |
Ho Chi Minh | £2,019 | Amsterdam, Milan |
Bali | £2,094 | Amsterdam, Zagreb |
You can book direct with Qatar Airways here.
There are also a few extra deals:
- To collect 10,000 Avios, you need to make a flight booking as a Privilege Club member before 27 November 2023. Members will earn bonus Avios based on the cabin of travel for the first leg of their ticket. It does not specify the actual amounts awarded for each cabin which is poor.
- Get a 50% bonus when you buy Avios through your Qatar Privilege account when you buy or gift Avios by 27 November.

Far cry from the 2015 £500 business fares to BKK from Oslo!
This Qatar prices are around for 2 months already
Well I got an email from Qatar for flights from the UK , Business class from £2029 ! Can anyone find it ? I spend almost an hour on live chat – going round in circles.
Really poor sale from Qatar. That is if you can even call it a sale.
Definitely on the UK front. The odd EU bargain but that’s it.
Think after the World Cup is over, we might get a better biz class sale. Haven’t found a thing jan/Feb l mean under 2k worth looking at. Am sure we will get a better one in a month or so…
APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE but I have to speak out and encourage everyone to consider how they spend their business travel and leisure money.
The easiest thing to say is that this forum is non political BUT the concept of RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL AND TOURISM is a real and growing one, from the way in which hotels, resorts, airlines and other providers in the industry are approaching managing their carbon footprints, to the very real concerns about the way tourism can affect local communities for good or bad outcomes.
As a Travel Industry professional, retired, I have watched in horror the way Qatar and her various State Owned instruments have sought IMHO to sportswash human rights abuses during the current World Cup. 6500 poorly paid, passport confiscated migrant workers have been killed during the construction of stunning stadia. Women are not even second class citizens and don’t talk about the abuse of gay people but at least they’re not being chucked off buildings as they are in Iran. Yet.
His Excellency Mr Baker says women can’t run an airline- it’s a man’s job so maybe we should all think about patronising his autocratically run airline instead of patronising it, despite the excellent Q seats and the signature Meze. Perhaps we should all be thinking about RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL a little more. Just saying…
I completely agree. It seems that we turn a blind eye to the shortcomings of Middle Eastern regimes when it comes to their airlines. Qatar Airways is wholly owned by the Qatar government and is therefore is as Qatari as the World Cup. Surely anyone who is appalled by the Qatari government should not be flying on Qatar Airways. If you are not, then ignore this.
In fact, it looks like the Qatar offer is Black Friday fare increases from the UK.
I was looking for a pair of business class return tickets UK to Bali for next year. Last week, before the sale, it was a shade over £8k for two.
In the Qatar Black Friday sale, the fare is over £12k for two!
It’s such a shame how they no longer have decent fares from the UK. They’ve always been high from here but there was the odd bargain at least!
Sometimes cheaper on BA (codeshare). Searching for a MAN – BNE for Mar-Apr 4 week trip. Found the fare for £5.8k rtn in J, vs £8k on Qatar for same flight!
Wow that’s a huge difference!!!
I have tried to follow the advice as I am currently searching for a KUL biz ticket for December. I was curious about the MAD-KUL price in this post but looking at Qatar Black Friday sales I am not coming even close to that number. It’s at least double the price then shown above. What am I doing wrong? Please advise.
The rules state that travel dates are from January. You will be very lucky to find any Black Friday sales that cover December.
Terrible sale. Probably similar to the BA one. After the last year, ive come to the conclusion that I dont even look out for sale fares from them any longer. Loved travelling with them over the years but these are not sale prices, even from the EU.
Decided early this year that I will stop looking exclusively for Oneworld airlines as only Finair seem to have anything near what can be called regular offers.
Agreed. Since the World Cup Qatar have become greedy, arrogant and complacent. Long gone delightful and efficient holiday only trips to Nepal, India, Cambodia/Laos, Vietnam, Langkawi and Thailand. At up to £2600 p p per trip and of course 560 points! Great shame.
Hopefully things may improve under the new CEO.
I tried to look at buying avios from Qatar with the 50% bonus. But their Web sites say I can’t buy until I have earned 1000 avios with Qatar.
Any suggestions on how I can easily do that?
I’d be surprised if BA don’t do a similar offer.
