Up to 20% off Qatar flights
Qatar has another 20% off deal but as usual they can often be a bit disappointing as the 20% off is off the base fare not taxes and charges. Some destinations only offer 10% off. However, if you are planning to book anyway, it is worth a look.
The business class fares are only available until 5 June 2022 and you need to use promo code PREMIUM22 when booking your flight. You can only travel during June except to the following destinations:
Abuja, Amman, Amritsar, Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Cebu, Colombo, Clark, Dhaka, Dammam, Dubai, Entebbe, Erbil, Yerevan, Goa, Baku, Isfahan, Tehran, Islamabad, Jeddah, Djibouti, Karachi, Kuwait City, Luanda, Lahore, Lagos, Muscat, Medina, Multan, Riyadh, Seychelles, Tbilisi offer travel 01 June – 10 July 2022.
It is valid to the following destinations only but you can depart from most places in Europe if you want a cheaper price:
Addis Ababa, Baghdad, Sulaymaniyah, Khartoum, Kathmandu, Mogadishu, Mashhad, Najaf, Pshawar, Sharjah, Sialkot, Salalah, Shiraz.
Abuja, Amman, Amritsar, Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Cebu, Colombo, Clark, Dhaka, Dammam, Dubai, Entebbe, Erbil, Yerevan, Goa, Baku, Isfahan, Tehran, Islamabad, Jeddah, Djibouti, Karachi, Kuwait City, Luanda, Lahore, Lagos, Muscat, Medina, Multan, Riyadh, Seychelles, Tbilisi.
Ahmedabad, Bangkok, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Basra, Kolkata, Jakarta, Cape Town, Dar Es Salaam, Delhi, Bali, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Phuket, Hyderabad, Seoul, Johannesburg, Kilimanjaro, Kuala Lumpur, Lusaka, Chennai, Maldives, Manila, Nairobi, Ho-Chi-Minh-City, Singapore, Thiruvananthapuram, Zanzibar, Accra, Kozhikode, Kochi, Maputo, Windhoek.
You can find the offer page here.
Atlantis the Palm from £238
Atlantis the Palm can be expensive but it does include access to the waterpark and attractions so you do get a lot for your money. Luxury Escapes is offering a decent deal from £238 a night for the hotel. The cheapest price is for an Ocean King room but you can book various categories which include the Imperial Club room which comes with access to the Club Lounge. I reviewed the Club rooms here but the Club lounge has since been renovated. You can also add breakfast, half or full board. The cheapest I can find over the summer is £275 a night so it’s a decent saving.
You have to join Luxury Escapes to purchase but it’s free to join and just signs you to their mailing list. You can sign up and find more details on the deal here.
£200 off Virgin Atlantic flights
Virgin Atlantic have reduced certain flights by up to £200 between 1-13 June 2022. It is not clear which flights it applies to, but again if you are thinking of booking it may be worth waiting until Wednesday and seeing if the price is reduced.
Nectar special offer on 1 June only – 25 x points
Collecting Nectar points means you can convert them into Avios to spend on flights as well as spending in-store or on hotels or even Eurostar.
On Wednesday they are doing a great offer for 25 times the normal points when you spend £15 or more on one item on eBay. But don’t hang around – this offer is around for 1 hour only from 12-1pm this Wednesday 1 June.
If you spend £100, you’ll get 2,500 bonus points worth at least £12.50.
eBay has moved on from the days of auction only style and now has lots of items you can buy now and many businesses selling direct. It is great for hard to find items such as replacement parts, unusual plants and discontinued items as well as pretty much anything you can think of, much of it brand new. It’s well worth a browse on Wednesday to rack up some Nectar points.
You can visit eBay here between 12-1pm on Wednesday. Make sure you add in your Nectar card to your eBay account before you purchase.

Do search engines like ITA Matrix and GoogleFlights find special fares like the Qatar Airways offers above or not? I assume not since it’s not normal fare classes?
No unfortunately as you need to enter a code.
Does anyone know if any of more highly-ranked airlines (e.g. Qatar and SQ) that offer a points linked credit card and/or a companion voucher type offering? I have been using the Amex BA points /companion voucher for several years, but my patience is at an end with BA. A recent Club flight from LAX to LHR was truly awful. 777 with broken seats, a wine list that was (to me anyway) insulting, and just an endless stream of excuses. HELP!
You can use Avios on Qatar Privilege club now so the BA Amex or Barclaycard Avios work well for Qatar too. There’s no voucher but you can now at least upgrade flights with Avios on them. SQ don’t do a UK card. However Star Alliance have announced they are launching a credit card with points you can use on any Star alliance airline. We don’t know if the UK will be the launch country yet but there is a fair chance.
Otherwise Virgin Atlantic card is another option since you can earn and redeem on Singapore, Air France, KLM, Delta, ANA and more. They have vouchers for upgrades and companions but they can only be used for Virgin and if you don’t have status it only gives you 50% off business class. https://www.turningleftforless.com/worth-joining-virgin-flying-club-even-mainly-collect-avios/
You can credit Amex points to Krisflyer (Singapore Airlines).
Hi Michele. Do the travel journalists / bloggers have anything planned with Doyle for a Q and A anytime soon? I just find it hard to believe they appear resigned to their brand being trashed in the media without any thought for some positive PR? It just goes from bad to worse and I didn’t think that was possible. Thanks.
Not that I know of but I will remind the PR team that they were going to supply a formal reply to some of the cabin crew comments. Unfortunately it’s an “all hands on deck” situation and the PR team are busy helping out customers on social media a lot of the time to resolve customer issues. It’s probably the right thing to do as the operation comes first but obviously this leaves a PR vacuum a lot of the time. To be fair many other airlines are in a similar situation KLM, EasyJet, TUI for example. However there’s a lot that could be done onboard that wouldn’t be reliant on staff numbers.
Thanks for that. Inside info from ex colleagues confirms its going to get worse before it gets better. The “supply chain issues” a real: this means in flight duty free sales- I never bother- and drinks and food on board. This has never been a well paid industry- perks used to be the big thing- so given the opportunity to work elsewhere, it seems many have opted to do this.
Thanks for the info.
Hi Michele – thanks for the info. I’ll take a look at Qatar as I am heading to Singapore/NZ business class later this year. Unfortunately I’m booked BA to Singapore, something I hope to cancel.
I’ve been a BA Executive Club member for over 20 years. I genuinely cannot remember the last time I did not have an issue (putting aside delays, cancellations, non-existent customer service, incorrect advice, meal choice run out etc.) when flying BA.
I don’t know if any other readers have also reached the point where any sense of loyalty (?) has totally run out. It is almost a test by BA management to see how paper thin the service offering can get before customers are almost pushed into looking elsewhere.
I’m wondering when Qatar will do their business sale. Any ideas of what pricing could look like for Mumbai flights from London or EU?
They have been having sales almost continuously but none are very good. However the Indian routes are one of the few where prices are a little cheaper. Ex EU I’d hope you could get it for around £1500
