Years ago, there used to be regular topical weekly travel programs such as Judith Chalmers on Wish you were here and BBC’s Holiday program. Nowadays there is nothing really similar to those sorts of programs. There are, of course, YouTube reviews of flights and hotels or destinations videos. On TV there is the odd snippet within other programs and lots of destination programs, but very few topical shows. So I thought it was time for a resurgence of a regular topical travel show.
Each week on a Friday evening I will be publishing a short video on YouTube and podcast covering similar topics to TLFL such as news, reviews and tips. I’ll also have special guests to talk about particular subjects.
Usually, they will be around 10-15 minutes long but we are starting with an extra-length celebrity special featuring TV presenter Andi Peters, Sky News Reporter Jonathan Samuels and industry expert Paul Charles of the PC agency. They are all very regular travellers who gave me some fascinating insights. I chatted with them about their thoughts on what travel will bring in 2023 and what their personal travel plans are.
You can see the first episode on Youtube here.
Podcasts will be available on the following platforms:
- Apple Podcasts (now live)
- Spotify (now live)
- Libsyn (now live)
- Amazon Music/Audible (now live)
- Google Podcasts

Watched it last night. Had no idea it was on the cards. Great show & looking forward to many more installments.
I’ll email you my standard appearance fee’s chart & diary lol
I’m not sure I could afford you! Thanks Clayton.
Needs to be on Google Podcasts. I get quite a few from this platform.
Also perhaps look at using something like podpage.com to host your feed. Looks a bit better than libsyn link.
I use this for propertyonfire.co.uk
Good luck with the new podcast etc.
Thanks for the tips
Langkawi usually comes across as a very up-market island with expensive luxury hotels. That maybe so, but I was there last October and stayed in a cheap hotel in Kedah and enjoyed a wonderful stay. There was a great beach and the hotel was on the main road through the town and ran along the beachfront. When I say main road think country lane rather than motorway. It is the sort of place where you just feel relaxed from the moment you arrive so enjoy the island. Plenty to do and see and nice restaurants. I was there for just three days but now wanting to go back for longer. Combine it with a stay in Penang for another great albeit different experince.
Please tell Jonathan that Langkawi is in Malaysia not Indonesia!
Yes a few people have pointed that out. He knows that, just a slip of the tongue. I’ve also stayed in a similar boutique hotel and enjoyed being more in the centre of things.
Great video, Michelle. Thanks
There’s still an issue with staffing at Heathrow. Our BA mid-afternoon flight last Thursday to Lisbon was delayed by 1.30hr because of delay loading luggage. Then, after we were told we should be on the move in 5m there was no one to come and push the plane back. It took another 30m+ for that to be done.
Thanks Maria. I’m sorry to hear that. It does make you wonder when it will ever end!
Great news, thank you Michele and I’m looking forward to the Google podcast.
