Although you can’t earn tier points, you can earn Avios by crediting flights to Qatar’s Privilege Club (you can easily transfer Avios to BA). The offer is only available from Gatwick, not Heathrow.
Here are some of the best prices return in business class:
- New York (JFK) £1,249

Special TLFL offer – free wine tasting at stunning Italian villa
I have featured Villa in the Vineyards previously, as it is owned by a family member, but we wanted to give TLFL readers a new special offer for early summer.
If you’re looking for an undiscovered part of Italy, you might want to visit Le Marche in central Italy. It’s known for its patchwork of gentle rolling hills covered with vineyards and olive trees with the majestic Sibillini mountains to the west and the blue flag beaches of the Adriatic to the east. Medieval villages are dotted on hilltops and the region is often referred to as the ‘larder of Italy’ due to its delicious, authentic food (plus it’s a lot cheaper than Tuscany!). June is a perfect time to visit as the days are warm, and the landscape is lush and full of wild flowers. Fly to Rome or Bologna (maybe even stay a night) and it’s around a 3-hour drive from there.
The perfect place to stay and explore all this stunning region has to offer is Villa in the Vineyard, run by Nikki and Roberto Mattei. This traditional-style villa was built just 14 years ago to the highest eco standards and offers its guests a conscious luxury experience. The accommodation is a 130 m2 apartment on the ground floor with 2 or 3 bedrooms with 2 or 3 bathrooms for up to 6 guests. You will be able to enjoy the chlorine-free swimming pool and the 2 acres of landscaped gardens. Nikki and Roberto, who live discreetly upstairs, will act as your concierges alongside their informative digital guide.
Villa in the Vineyard is set within 7.5 acres of farmland which is mainly cultivated by the Vitali family who run the award-winning winery, Casale Vitali. You can take a stroll through the vineyards below the villa and then enjoy a wine tasting and a tour of the cantina up the road. For Turning Left for Less guests who visit during June 2023, you will receive a complimentary wine tasting for all your guests.
To find out more, visit the website and if you decide to book, please mention Turning Left for Less in your email to Roberto.
New JW Marriott in Madrid
JW Marriott has just opened its first property in Spain. The brand new JW Marriott Hotel Madrid is located in the Canalejas zone, right next to the Puerta del Sol, which is a handy central location.
The rooms look gorgeous with neutral tones, original features and marble bathrooms. Many of the rooms feature a balcony too. Some of the rooms overlook the El Patio JW Garden, where ingredients used by the restaurant and cocktail bar are grown.
The building that houses the hotel used to be one of Madrid’s oldest perfumeries, which is reflected throughout the hotel. Upon check-in, guests are welcomed with a traditional violet or rosemary-scented tea, and they can choose from five scents to be placed in their wardrobe. The bath menu, with special playlists and customizable light setups is aimed at turning your bathroom into a private spa experience. In the lobby, there’s an exhibition featuring antique perfume bottles, books, and essences, and there are even olfactory workshops in partnership with the Spanish Academy of Perfume for those who want to learn more.
The hotel has partnered with Michelin-star chef Mario Sandoval to create a dining and cocktail concept using ingredients grown in the JW Garden and sourced from local providers. ‘QU’ offers dishes inspired by perfume containers and an inventive cocktail menu.
