BA’s Whispering Angel bar opens at Heathrow T5B
British Airways’ Whispering Angel bar, located in the airline’s lounge in Terminal 5 at the B gates, has opened in time for the peak summer season. I will, of course, do my best to try out the bar next time I’m passing through for the sake of my readers!
I wrote about my trip to Chateau D’Esclans as well as the new wines BA has on board and in the lounges in this article. You can also read my interview with their Master of Wine here.
The opening of the exclusive bar marks the first phase of British Airways’ continued refresh of this lounge over the summer months, which will include new and reupholstered furniture across the lounge, as well as a new layout. You can read about the T3 First lounge refurbishment here.
You can find The Pale rosé from the same Chateau in the Club lounges at Heathrow and Gatwick. Whispering Angel is currently available in British Airways’ Concorde, First and Club lounges. You can also pre-order Whispering Angel half bottles on short haul flights.
The Château d’Esclans team said: “We are ecstatic to finally be able to share our beautiful Whispering Angel bar with British Airways’ customers, and bring a touch of glamour to Heathrow as the world’s most glamorous rosé. We look forward to travellers being able to enjoy a delicious glass of Whispering Angel before they fly, in a space that really embodies the effortlessly chic nature of our brand.”
Elsewhere, the airline has introduced a lightly oaked rosé in its First cabin with Whispering Angel’s big brother, Rock Angel.
Club World, including the current Champagne resident Heidsieck & Co. Monopole Silver Top Non-Vintage Champagne, and now an exclusive English Sparkling Wine option which changes every 3 months. This quarter’s sparkling wine is one of my favourites and perfect for summer.

15% off IHG Points and cash flash sale
IHG hotels are offering IHG One members a discount of 15% on the cash portion of your booking when you use Points & Cash for Reward Nights. Book by 19 July for stays up to 31 August 2023.
Normally points and cash bookings are not particularly good value, but they are useful if you haven’t got enough points. With IHG, you are effectively buying points with the cash at a slightly better rate than the standard buying points rate. However, with 100% bonus offers being fairly frequent, the rate is still slightly worse than the 100% bonus offer, even with the 15% discount. There is, of course, no guarantee that the 100% bonus will come back. IHG has also offered 20% off Points and Cash before, but again no guarantee of when it may return.
If you were to cancel your booking, the full points are returned to your account. You do not get the cashback, only the points that you have “bought”.
You can find the offer page here.

Morning, shame they haven’t done anything about the run down business lounges at heathrow. The seating and the bathrooms have all been embarrassing for years now. Not to mention how crowded they are.
They are actually in the process of refurbishing them all. So far I know the First lounge at T3 has been done in terms of furniture. Whether they do the bathrooms or not remains to be seen… Hopefully the crowding will start to ease now as all the extensions from Covid drop off as well as those that got status at the reduced levels but won’t earn enough to retain it.
