There is currently a 4 day Qatar sale from the UK which ends on 29 September. There is very little of interest compared to previous sales and ex EU fares. The UK sale page is here. However, there is a flash sale in Sweden that is of much more interest.
The most interesting fare from Stockholm is to Sydney from £1659 which is an absolute steal, even when you factor in the cost of positioning flight. Melbourne is a similar price too. The fares must be booked by the end of today, 27 September, for travel until 28 February 2018 with an embargo over Christmas between 15 December and 10 January 2018.
This trip would get you 600 tier points and a load of Avios too. That is instant BA silver status providing you have done 4 flights on BA in your tier point year. The fare is one of the best Qatar Sydney ex EU fares for quite a while. I just wish I could fit it in my travelling schedule somewhere! I previously have flown from Stockholm on an ex EU on Qatar and it is an easy airport to use for this purpose. There are 2 hotels within the terminal complex that are reasonably priced making it easy to factor in an overnight stay to allow for contingency.
Qatar uses a B787 to Doha and then the A380 to Sydney. Both of these have the latest reverse herringbone seats and the A380 has the advantage of the onboard bar too. You can read our review of the Qatar B787 business class here. If you are new to ex EU fares you can read my beginner’s guide here.
The Swedish sale page is here.
There are also a couple of good deals from Sarajevo, Bosnia but difficulties positioning there makes it unattractive. The 2 best deals are Shanghai from £840 and Bangkok from £1225.
