Virgin Atlantic Offers British Airways Executive Club Members Upgraded Status Match
Virgin Atlantic has seized on the BA Tier point year change fiasco as a way to woo customers over with a status match. You know you have messed up when Virgin is using the change as a good PR opportunity…
Virgin is offering British Airways Executive Club members an upgraded status match between now and Valentine’s Day.
- Executive Club Gold & Silver > Flying Club Gold
- Executive Club Bronze > Flying Club Silver
All members need to do is have a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account and book a Virgin Atlantic flight in Premium or Upper Class. The flight can be a cash ticket or a redemption flight, which is generous. Then you need to fill in this form.
You can not apply if you have previously done a status match with Virgin.
Your status will be upgraded 72 hours before your qualifying flight and the status will be for 12 months.
Virgin status was previously not particularly useful if you always fly business class with them. However, given that they are now a member of Skyteam, this would be an easy way to get Skyteam status. Gold members get Upper-Class check-in and private security in London Heathrow, access to the wonderful Clubhouses and Revivals Lounge, 60% more Virgin Points on all Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Atlantic Holidays bookings, as well as SkyTeam Elite+.
Silver members get 30% more Virgin Points on all Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Atlantic Holidays bookings, free extra checked luggage, Premium check-in, priority boarding, and a range of additional benefits, including SkyTeam Elite recognition.
The other reason for getting Virgin status is if you earn vouchers through the Virgin Atlantic Mastercard which currently has a special offer for double points until 14th April 2024 or £5,000 spend, whichever comes first, when you take out a Reward+ credit card before 4th March 2024.
When you spend £10,000 or more on card purchases over 12 months on the Virgin Rewards+ card you get a Companion Reward Ticket or an upgrade voucher. Having Virgin status is an advantage for the companion voucher as if you’re a Silver or Gold member, when you book the companion reward seat, it won’t cost any points. However, if you’re a Red member when you book, the companion seat won’t cost any points in Economy Classic and Premium, or you’ll get a 50% reduction in the points needed for Upper. You could also choose the Clubhouse Pass as your voucher, which is only available for Silver and Gold Flying Club members. If you are Gold, you get two passes for one person instead of one.
Bonus points on flights
There is also a new bonus point offer from Friday 9 February. Choose any round-trip route between now and 30th June 2024 and bag a bonus of 2,000 Virgin Points on each Economy trip, 5,000 in Premium and 10,000 in Upper class.
Anthony Woodman, Vice President of Flying Club & CRM, comments: “We know how much Flying Club means to our members, so we’ve worked hard to ensure that even more customers can feel the love. With our enhanced Executive Club status match, bonus points offer and Reward+ credit card promotion, there’s never been a better time to join Flying Club and experience the best Virgin Atlantic. But don’t wait – these offers won’t last forever, so ensure you’ve made the perfect match by Valentine’s Day!”
10,000 point Marriott Bonvoy Bonus
Marriott Bonvoy Members who book a private home rental through Marriott Homes and Villas by 29 February 2024 and complete their 3+ night stay during the promotion earning period will get 10,000 bonus points. You can stay until 31 May 2024.

Well l’m actually quite by the Virgin offer 😀
Meant to say quite tempted
Slightly off subject but regarding the Virgin Clubhouse at Heathrow, some of the drivers we use prefer not to drop off there because they sometimes damage their wheels on the very tight turn at the entrance and I don’t blame them.
Cars are getting bigger and a long wheelbase 7 Series etc just won’t make it. Has anyone else experienced this?
Marriott. Minimum spend 1k$ tho, unlike before!
Did I miss the piece on the new TAP lounge? 😉
Can I get the status match if I have already booked the virgin flight?
I believe so
