Virgin Atlantic – 50% off redemption flights
Virgin Atlantic has yet another redemption sale. I wonder if they are struggling to get people to redeem their points for flights given the extremely high taxes (in some cases more than BA), which are in the region of £800-1000 per person in Upper Class.
The 50% discount on points is for Economy, Premium and Upper Class seats on Virgin metal only to the US (which are usually the most expensive redemptions for taxes and charges). You can also get the discount on upgrades, which is more handy, although you do get tier points on redemptions, at least. However, in many cases, it could be more beneficial to buy a premium economy seat and use miles to upgrade for potentially not much more cash (around £200 extra taxes will apply) but earn points on the flights.
One thing to bear in mind, which makes the offer more interesting, is that you can use it with the credit card 2-4-1 voucher.
To book, head over to the Virgin Atlantic website, where you can choose your destination and travel dates. Select ‘Show Price in Points’ under the ‘Advanced search’ followed by your desired cabin – either Economy, Premium or Upper Class. Finally, click the arrow and browse the reward seats available to you – 50% off the usual points price. See the Reward Seat Checker here to find available seats more easily.
Virgin Atlantic is enhancing benefits for its Flying Club Red Tier
Virgin Atlantic is enhancing benefits for its Flying Club Red Tier, which is the basic tier when you join.
Flying Club Red members will receive a new boarding benefit, which will allow them to board their flights ahead of other customers travelling in Economy Classic and Economy Light. The new boarding benefit is available from today, across any Virgin Atlantic operated service throughout its global network.
Virgin Atlantic boarding priority commences with customers who need a little more assistance, including those with young children. Priority boarding is then given to Upper Class and Gold Card members, followed by Premium then Economy Delight. Virgin Atlantic Red members will now be able to board from this point, ahead of the remaining customers in the Economy cabin.

- Boston £1900

- Washington £1837
