Finnair’s new Schengen Lounge first look
Finnair has revealed its new Schengen Lounge in Helsinki Airport which is due to open on 9 July 2024. The lounge before was modern, as it was not that long since the last refurbishment. However, it often felt crowded and this has been addressed by increasing the amount of space.
It follows the same palette and design introduced to the airline’s non-Schengen lounges, first unveiled at Helsinki Airport in 2019.
With seating for up to 440 customers, the newly designed Schengen lounge has unparalleled views of Helsinki Airport. Based on customer feedback, the lounge will also feature an exclusive Platinum Corner for Finnair Plus Platinum and Platinum Lumo members to enjoy. This does not seem to include oneworld Emerald, sadly.
Meri Järvinen, Finnair Head of Airport Customer Experience, said: “With increased space, the new Finnair Lounge comfortably accommodates up to 440 guests, ensuring a relaxed experience and seamless service for everyone.
“Different spaces within the lounge are tailored to various needs: dining, working, resting and spending time with your travel companions.”
Business Class Classic and Flex ticket holders, as well as Finnair Plus Gold members (and oneworld Sapphire and Emerald) can enjoy complimentary access to the new lounge. Finnair Plus Platinum and Platinum Lumo members can also benefit from exclusive access to the Platinum Corner.
Lounge access can also be purchased by all customers via Manage Booking or the Finnair app.
Based in the Schengen area of Helsinki Airport, the new lounge will benefit customers travelling with Finnair on the majority of flights across Europe, including those connecting in Helsinki from the UK and travelling onwards to Finnish Lapland and the wider Nordic and Baltic region.
Customers flying directly to and from the UK and Ireland can also continue to get access to Finnair’s Platinum Wing and Business Lounge in the non-Schengen area of Helsinki Airport.

Just enter the code ‘FORTY’ before completing your booking.
Virgin Atlantic Holidays is also offering savings of up to £200 available on holidays or flight & hotel packages on all destinations when departing from the UK. This offer will give customers a £25 per person automatic saving, plus by using the promo code ‘BIRTHDAY’, customers will receive an additional £100 when spending a minimum of £3000.
The discounts are only available from first thing Friday morning (00:01, 21st June) to Monday 24th June at 23:59 and are only valid on departures from 24th June 2024 to 31st December 2024.
I am hoping there may also be a reduced price for redemptions, as I have seen it mentioned elsewhere in the US but have not received anything yet.
