British Airways Introduces Three New Italian Routes
Alongside the announcement of British Airways’ new First Class Suite that we covered yesterday, they also revealed three new Italian routes that they will be adding to their schedule for Summer 2025.
Launching in May 2025, British Airways will introduce new flights to Rimini on the Adriatic Coast from London Heathrow, and Salerno on the Amalfi Coast from London Gatwick. A new service from London City to Olbia (OLB) in Sardinia will be added, they currently already fly to Sardinia from Heathrow. Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, said:
“Italy continues to prove hugely popular with our customers, which is why it’s our biggest European destination, and second globally behind the US. Last month, we saw a 10% increase in searches for summer flights to Italy compared to 2023, so we’re pleased to be offering an even bigger choice of destinations next year. Rimini, Salerno and Olbia are all coastal destinations, so we expect them to be particularly popular with our leisure customers seeking sun, sea, and of course Italy’s fantastic food.”
Italy is firm favourite destination for us to visit and it’s good to see other areas becoming more easily accessible to explore. However, Italy’s rail system is one of the best in the world, and we have found travelling around Italy by train so easy in the past that it may not be strictly necessary to fly direct.
British Airways Holidays 3,000 Bonus Avios
There is currently a deal running with American Express and British Airways Holidays. You need to save the deal to your card and if you spend £3,000 on a holiday you earn 3,000 bonus Avios. The offer is running until 22nd December 2024. It doesn’t appear that it needs to be a new booking, so if you are due to pay a balance of a holiday you have previously booked, make sure to save the offer beforehand. If you are making a new booking, your deposit may not reach the £3,000 spend, so you would need to consider making a larger part payment upfront.
