Loganair Becomes the Latest Airline to Adopt Avios
Loganair has announced a major update to its Clan loyalty programme, with plans to adopt Avios as its primary loyalty currency in 2025. This move will make Loganair the seventh airline to join the Avios network, which already includes British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, Qatar Airways, and Finnair.
Michele flew with Loganair in 2023 when she took a flight to the famous beach landing at Barra. (Review here).
As the UK’s largest regional airline, Loganair serves over 1.5 million passengers annually on nearly 70 routes, with hubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness, and Newcastle, as well as operating five routes from London Heathrow. This partnership with IAG Loyalty will significantly expand the benefits available to Clan members and British Airways Executive Club members alike.
The transition from Clan Points to Avios is set to take place in 2025, with further details on accrual and redemption rates to be revealed closer to launch.
Up to 85% Points Bonus on Air Canada’s Aeroplan Buy Points
You can currently receive a points bonus when you buy points with Aeroplan, Air Canada’s loyalty scheme. Many of our readers may not be likely to fly with Air Canada, however, these points can be used on any Star Alliance member airlines and also an impressive list of other partners, including, Etihad, Gulf Air, and Oman Air. Aeroplan allows stopovers on one-way awards for an additional fee, increasing travel flexibility. Jason, one of our regular writers, has recently used Aeroplan points to fly Gulf Air Business Class for 80,000 points and C$88 for a journey from Bangkok to Manchester via Bahrain.
The bonus breakdown is as follows:
Buy 3,000 – 20,000 points for 40% Bonus
Buy 25,000 – 35,000 points for 60% Bonus
Buy 40,000+ points for 85% Bonus
If you already have Aeroplan miles, you may be offered 100% bonus, which would make it very worthwhile.
The offer runs until 14th January 2025 and points can be purchased here.
Hilton Honors Buy Points Bonus
Hilton is offering another Buy Points Bonus with Hilton Honors. We believe this could go up to 100%, but you are more likely to see 80% or less. It is available on purchases of 3,000 points or more and members are eligible to purchase a maximum of 160,000 per calendar year. There is no end date for this promotion, but it could end at any time. We do often see a true 100% bonus, so unless you are specifically aiming to use points for an imminent stay then it is probably worth waiting to see if a better bonus is announced.
You can access the Hilton Honors Buy Points page here.

I have the 100% offer – and for info, the 100% offer is only available on purchases over 5000 points.
Thanks Geoff, that’s a good offer!
Air Canada has one of the most useful frequent flyer programs out there as not only does it often have promotions on purchased miles but it also has redemption agreements with several other non-star airlines (like Gulf Air).
Purchasing points can be a great strategy and one that I often use. Not only can trips work out significantly cheaper (especially is you hit the ‘sweet spots’) but most frequent flyer program redemptions are essentially semi-flexible. When purchasing the most discounted ticket outright, it usually comes with harsh penalties for cancellation. With redemptions, generally they can be cancelled almost last minute for a reasonable penalty so are way more flexible if plans change or you see a better deal elsewhere.
