Singapore Airlines Invests £27M to Upgrade Changi Terminal 2 Lounges
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced a major S$45 million (£27 million) investment to renovate and expand its SilverKris and KrisFlyer Gold lounges at Changi Airport’s Terminal 2. The project began on 15 April 2025 and is expected to be completed by mid-2027, with the goal of significantly improving the passenger experience through greater capacity and upgraded facilities.
Renovation Timeline
The First Class SilverKris Lounge is the first to undergo refurbishment, with construction having started in April 2025 and due for completion by Q4 2025. Work on the Business Class SilverKris Lounge will begin in Q4 2025, while the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge is set for renovation starting in the first half of 2026.
Key Enhancements
All lounges will benefit from a 50% increase in space and seating, helping to address the overcrowding often experienced during peak periods.
The First Class SilverKris Lounge will feature higher ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows for more natural light, live cooking stations offering a mix of Singaporean, Asian and Western cuisines, and a revamped bar that will also serve barista-made coffee in the mornings.
The Business Class SilverKris Lounge will expand by 30% and include quiet rest areas fitted with recliners, a variety of seating options such as wingback chairs and productivity pods, and a full-service bar serving both morning coffee and evening signature cocktails.
For the first time, the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge will include in-lounge restrooms and shower suites. It will also double in capacity and feature a mix of armchairs, workstations, and dining areas to suit different types of travellers.
These upgrades are part of Singapore Airlines’ wider effort to improve its ground offerings and bring Terminal 2’s lounge experience in line with the flagship lounges in Terminal 3. The project will be completed in phases to minimise disruption to passengers.
Malaysia Airlines Offers Fast-Track to Elite Status for Business Class Flyers from London
Malaysia Airlines is making a strong pitch to British travellers, especially those reconsidering their loyalty to British Airways, with a compelling new promotion via its Enrich loyalty programme. Travellers flying Business Class or Business Suite from London Heathrow can unlock elite status, bonus points, or both, depending on their destination.
The promotion is valid for bookings and travel between 7 April and 30 June 2025.
Elite Status Offer
Travelling from London to any international destination outside Malaysia with a connecting flight via Kuala Lumpur can now unlock Enrich Gold status, which is equivalent to British Airways Silver (oneworld Sapphire). This grants key benefits like lounge access, fast track security, free seat selection, and priority boarding, even when flying with oneworld partners like BA.
Blue or Silver Enrich members will be upgraded to Gold. Current Gold members will retain their status for another year, and Platinum members can gift Silver status to a nominee. There’s a cap of 200 Gold upgrades available, and each member can only claim the reward once.
Bonus Points for Domestic Travel
If you’re heading to Kuala Lumpur with a connection to any domestic Malaysian city, you’ll earn a 20% bonus in Enrich Points. Unlike the elite status offer, this bonus can be earned multiple times, once for each completed return trip.
Elite Points on Redemption Tickets
Enrich members redeeming miles for Business Class or Business Suite return flights from London—whether to Malaysia or beyond—will earn two bonus Elite Points per segment. This applies only to Value, Basic, and Flex fare redemptions, and excludes Saver fares or Points + Cash bookings.
This is one of the most accessible oneworld Sapphire (BA Silver-equivalent) opportunities currently available. It only takes one return trip in Business Class from London to a non-Malaysian international destination with Malaysia Airlines to qualify. Given Malaysia Airlines is a oneworld member, your new status gives you benefits on British Airways and other partner airlines too.
Those without an Enrich account will need to register before travel and ensure the number is added to their booking. Avios can’t be earned on these flights, but Enrich miles can be used for BA redemptions, making it a flexible alternative.
Malaysia Airlines operates the Airbus A350-900 on its Heathrow route, featuring a well-regarded Business Class cabin with 1-2-1 seating and the excellent “throne” seat configuration. The Business Suite, formerly First Class, offers even more space and privacy. You can see a review from TLFL here.
For frequent flyers looking to boost their oneworld status quickly, or simply try something different, this Malaysia Airlines promotion is an easy win. It’s generous, straightforward, and could enhance your entire flying experience.

Thanks – this is good to know about. But re the Apple Store offer through Avios, it just says “April 2025” – is there a more precise expiry date please?
Apologies, it was supposed to read “until 27th April 2025”
