Final day for great value BA London to US Club World sale
About a week ago you may recall that I wrote about one of the best sales for US fares on BA from the UK that we have seen for a long time. You can find the full rules and destinations in the original article. Although the fare rules did not give an end date to the fares, it would appear from Trailfinders that the sale is due to end today, 28 February. Tickets must be booked 6 months in advance with a minimum stay of 7 days. There are also similar fares for American Airlines if booked through britishairways.com.
If you need a tier point run Hawaii is a great destination and gets 560-840 tier points depending on whether you factor in New York to Los Angeles flights in the booking. You can read my guide to Hawaii in luxury for less here.
The fares are:
- New York £1318
- Boston £1344
- Miami £1344
- Chicago £1411
- Orlando £1419
- Denver £1465
- San Francisco £1453
- Honolulu £1583
- San Francisco £1453
- Los Angeles £1451
- Phoenix £1525
- Las Vegas £1446
You can book tickets through a travel agent or britishairways.
New BA lounges and Gatwick lounge opening times
As part of their investment in Club, BA have announced more BA lounges access where there is currently not a BA lounge. This is in addition to the Seville, Innsbruck and Ibiza that I talked about in this article.
The lounges will be at Krakow, Oporto and Reykjavik–Keflavik.
Oporto BA passengers now have access to the ANA lounge
Reykjavik–Keflavik customers can access the Saga Lounge
The lounge has great views of Reykjanes peninsula and Faxaflói bay and all the way to Snæfellsjökull glacier in the west on a clear day. Additionally, the lounge has:
- Showers (soap and towels provided)
- Luxurious recliners
- Cozy fireplace
- Free Wi-Fi
- Family facilities
- Kids’ play area
Krakow passengers will use the Business Lounge Non-Schengen
Gatwick First lounge
Additionally, my friend Ana at Mrs O Around the World has been waging a war against the opening times of the First lounge at Gatwick. Despite the fact that many Gatwick flights depart very early, the First lounge currently only opens at 7am which is far too late for the first rotation of flights. We wouldn’t have minded so much had the Club lounge not been such a zoo at this time, probably due to the extra Gold cardholders. BA have confirmed that they will be opening the Gatwick First lounge from 5.15am from 1st March. It is nice to see they are listening to customers.
Nuts!
In other exciting news (!) BA has changed the nuts in Club Europe but they don’t seem to have appeared on Club World yet. This may be due to the changeover to the new service which offers nuts in a ceramic dish. The new nuts were pretty dull being plain almonds, so a step backwards in my book.

Terrible nut news. Loved those cashews – big & chunky! These look like another downgrade…
#firstworldproblems! I know I was not keen on them at all. I love cashews. Although I used to like the pretzels too.
I’ll be interested to try the new CW food service on my SFO flight in May. Have you tried the new service on a route other than JFK?
Hi Chris. No only on JFK so far. Feedback is the food is not as good on other routes as different caterer. Though this has always been the case in recent years.
