British Airways will launch 7 new routes from Manchester Airport this summer as well as 3 new destinations from Stansted.
New BA Manchester flights
The flights from Manchester will begin in May 17 for the summer only to Alicante, Malaga, Ibiza, Palma, Mykonos, Nice and a weekly service to London City Airport.
All the new British Airways flights from Manchester will operate once a week at weekends, with the exception of the Ibiza route which will operate three times a week.
The Thursday night flight from London City is designed to give commuters an air link back to Manchester, with the return flight to London City on a Sunday. There is a British Airways Terraces Lounge at Manchester Airport for Club customers, Gold and Silver BAEC members.
New BA Stansted flights
New flights from Stansted will launch to Florence, Geneva and Nice. There will also be increased frequency on existing routes to Ibiza and Palma. Flights to Malaga and Faro will also resume for the summer.
There is no BA branded lounge at Stansted but eligible customers can use the Escape lounge. There is no free Champagne or even Prosecco but there is complimentary wines, beer and spirits. The wine selection looks terrible so I would be tempted to buy a glass of Prosecco at £3 or champagne at £6 which is very reasonable.
All flights will operate on Embraer 190 jet aircraft. These are very pleasant aircraft to fly on and I was not happy when Flybe stopped using them from my local airport! They are configured in 2-2 which means no arguing about who gets the middle seat!
Flights to Palma can be ridiculously expensive out of Heathrow as I have found the last 2 years. Economy was running to £400 and Club was at £700. This was even during a sale and not at a weekend or school holidays! Although it is further to travel for anyone that is closer to Heathrow, it may be an alternative if you want to use Avios or earn some without paying a fortune.
I searched yesterday evening and there were at least 2 Club Europe seats available on almost every one of the available dates for the new routes.
All flights are on sale now on www.ba.com apart from the Manchester-London City flights which go on sale on February 21.
