British Airways is offering customers the chance to fly to any long haul destination, in any cabin, for half the amount of Avios normally required.
For a limited time, the number of Avios needed to book a long haul Reward Flight across any cabin has been slashed by 50%. This means that customers can pick up return flights to destinations like Los Angeles for 68,000 Aviosin First or Dubai for 5o,000 Avios in business class You still have to pay the usual cash amount on top of this to cover taxes, fees and carrier charges.
Customers who want to use their Avios for a short-haul getaway can do so for 25% less Avios, meaning they can visit Venice for 16,500 Avios return or Athens for 19,500 Avios return.
To take advantage of the sale, customers must book by 13 October 2020, and travel by 30 June 2021.
Niall Rooney, Head of the British Airways Executive Club, said: “This is a rare promotion for all our loyal Executive Club Members who are longing to get travelling again. Whether they want to relax in the Maldives, go camel riding in Dubai or enjoy the canals in Venice, they can now reach their destination for a significantly reduced amount of Avios.”
The reduced Avios needed to book will appear automatically when searching for a Reward Flight. Full details, including complete terms and conditions, can be seen here.
Here are some examples of the cost with 50% off:
Using the discounts with Amex Companion or Lloyds vouchers
- You can use this with a BA Amex Companion voucher
- You can use this with a Lloyds Avios voucher
- In order to use it with an existing BA Amex Companion voucher booking, you will need to cancel and rebook
- BUT – there is no guarantee the seats will go straight back to being available, if at all
- It is only worth doing this if there is already availability for your destination and dates showing AND you have enough Avios to rebook before
- Otherwise, you risk losing the seats
- You will have to pay the usual £35 cancellation fee but you may view this as worthwhile in order to save the Avios
- Do not cancel a Lloyds voucher and rebook or you will lose the voucher completely

Booked to DXB in late March using 241. CW both ways and back on 350 with Club suites which I am pleased about. 55k Avios. Can’t beat that. Just need to find a hotel hungry for my money now and we are made!
Usually can get agent to hold, cancel and rebook ok in one session. Just £35 canx fee each if don’t want to get a FTV. My rebooking went through well even if still ends up being cancelled!
