Thailand, with its stunning islands, vibrant cities, and peaceful countryside, is always a popular choice – and since HBO’s The White Lotus chose to film its latest series across the country’s beautiful locations, its appeal has only grown.
This much-loved Southeast Asian destination offers a wide range of places to stay, from budget hostels to luxury beachfront resorts with excellent service.
If you’re tempted to live out your own White Lotus getaway (hopefully with less drama), Winged Boots – our luxury travel partner – has rounded up the five hotels featured in series three, along with some of the key scenes filmed at each.
In this post:
Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok
Location
On the banks of the Chao Phraya River, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok is a well-known retreat in the heart of the capital.
Experience
With a long history and classic design, this hotel combines colonial charm with Thai character. Expect butler-serviced suites, top-tier dining (the Authors’ Lounge is a favourite), and a riverside spa in a restored teak house. Whether arriving by boat or tuk-tuk, this is Bangkok with a touch of old-school style.
On-screen moments
The hotel’s interiors and riverside setting offered a calm contrast to the busy city. Several key scenes were filmed in the gardens, corridors, and lounges – including a moment in the Bamboo Bar. We’ll skip the monologue and go straight for a daiquiri from the Evolution cocktail menu.
Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui
Location
On Koh Samui’s northwestern tip, with views over the Gulf of Thailand.
Experience
Stay in private villas with Thai-style décor, thatched roofs, and infinity pools. Enjoy local cuisine, a luxury spa, and peaceful gardens.
On-screen moments
The Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui is the main filming location for the fictional White Lotus resort. Many key scenes were filmed here, from guest villas to the beachfront, giving fans a chance to experience the show’s setting first-hand.
Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort
Location
Along Bophut Beach on Koh Samui’s northern coast, close to Fisherman’s Village.
Experience
A mix of modern style and Thai architecture, with rooms offering garden or sea views. The resort includes a lagoon-style pool, watersports, and a spa offering traditional treatments.
On-screen moments
The resort appears in several scenes, with its Thai-style lobby, jewellery shop, and tree-lined entrance featured throughout the show. Even the staff areas and security station make an appearance.
Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas
Location
On Mai Khao Beach in northern Phuket, near Sirinath National Park.
Experience
Each villa includes a private pool and sundeck. Guests can enjoy cooking classes, yoga, and a variety of dining options, as well as eco-friendly initiatives.
On-screen moments
The show’s spa scenes were filmed here, making use of the resort’s peaceful wellness spaces. It’s where we get to know some of the characters more deeply, thanks to the relaxed atmosphere.
Rosewood Phuket
Location
Beside the waters of Emerald Bay on Phuket’s southwestern coast.
Experience
Pavilions and villas blend modern design with local materials, each with private pools and ocean views. Dining ranges from Italian to seafood, and the wellness centre offers tailored therapies.
On-screen moments
The resort’s beachfront location and elegant design add to the show’s luxurious feel. The Ta Khai restaurant was the setting for several memorable dinner scenes.
