BA’s Atlantic Joint Business means that there are numerous codeshares across the Atlantic with various airlines. The good news is that if you book on a codeshare you will get tier points, which you would not on someone like Aer Lingus normally.
BA has announced a whole new range of routes for 2022 with the AJB. You will have a selection of new routes to choose from for Summer 2022 including London to Portland, Barcelona to Los Angeles and Helsinki to Dallas. Portland has been rumoured for a long time for BA, so it’s great to see it finally start. Portland is a fantastic city with plenty of great restaurants, breweries and boutique shops and is very walkable. It’s also close to the Oregon wine trail for a two centre holiday.
The Atlantic Joint Business is a joint venture that started in 2010, between American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia, with Finnair joining in 2013, LEVEL in 2017, and Aer Lingus in 2021. By bringing their network of flights together, the partnership offers customers in the North Atlantic the most competitive choice, with Aer Lingus, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and LEVEL operating in Europe and American Airlines in the USA.
Customers can mix and match flights operated by any of the six carriers to get the best deals and enjoy smoother connections through coordinated schedules. The new routes are:

Virgin Atlantic gets £400m of new investment
Virgin Atlantic has announced the completion of a £400m new investment from its shareholders, Virgin Group and Delta Air Lines.
The investment positions Virgin Atlantic to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic in a strong financial position, ready to capitalise on market opportunities as demand for travel returns. The airline also has a bolstered balance sheet, which will make it able to withstand a further downturn in air travel, should that occur.
Shai Weiss, CEO Virgin Atlantic, said: “Our story has been well documented during the pandemic. Together with our people, we have proven that we have what it takes to survive and to emerge a stronger airline. Throughout, our shareholders Virgin Group and Delta Air Lines have been a source of unwavering support. As our customers look to travel again to reconnect with their families, loved ones and business colleagues around the world, we look forward to working together towards our vision of becoming the most loved travel company and becoming sustainably profitable, serving our customers with Virgin flair for the next 37 years and beyond.”
Josh Bayliss, CEO of the Virgin Group, added: “Since 1984, Virgin Atlantic has been a cornerstone of the Virgin brand, flying millions of customers and providing essential competition. We are extremely grateful to the Virgin Atlantic team for its incredible tenacity and commitment, skilfully navigating the worst crisis ever to hit the travel industry. With the addition of new routes and a continuing focus on operating a cleaner, greener fleet, there is much to look forward to.”

Hi
BA cancelled our Singapore/ Bali trip @ 0350hrs this morning
Was hoping for A380 on BA11 27.03.22, but thinking maybe holding back on A380 reintroductions. We were booked 1st class return with Amex vouchers. 3rd time now cancelled…fuming. Both of us jabbed 3 times as well. Starting to give up !!
Tricky for BA to introduce the A380 on SIN due to lack of demand. Although it’s technically open, most people are not keen to go due to all the regulations. I’m sure as soon as they are eased further there will be more demand. I can sympathise having had many similar multiple cancellations on trips.
Hi enjoy the site most days , I do feel the vision of Portland was pre BLM , downtown is a no go for police let alone tourist , for your readers , perhaps a little bit of a heads up ?
I don’t think that’s entirely true about it being a no go zone. Yes that was true some months ago but while some areas are best avoided (true in many cities) the city is gradually working to get back to normal and they want tourists. This is a recently updated guide to what Portland is like now. https://www.travelportland.com/plan/safety-in-portland/
re AJB: “the ability to earn and redeem across all four airlines, giving customers more chances to earn and redeem Avios, miles or points.”
It is 5 airlines: AA,BA, Iberia, Finnair and Aer Lingus or is AIr Lingus still excluded from earning tier points?
You can get TPs with Aer Lingus if you book as a BA codeshare.
