New No1 lounge open at Heathrow
The new No1 Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2 is now open. It is situated near Gate A18, past security and duty free.
The decor is impressive, looking modern and elegant. Guests can choose from a variety of seating options, including a library for quiet, TV lounges for sports or entertainment, communal bistro seating, and intimate nooks. The lounge is also equipped with Private Rooms/Meeting Spaces and the total lounge has 90 seats.
Rami El-Dahshan, Managing Director of No1 Lounges Ltd commented: “We’re beyond excited to bring the No1 experience to Heathrow Terminal 2. This lounge is all about elevating the travel experience – beautifully designed spaces, thoughtful details, and our signature No1 hospitality that makes every journey feel special. We’re thrilled to welcome guests through the doors and share what we’ve created.”
The lounge has a British-inspired menu, with a buffet including a range of hot and cold dishes, freshly baked pastries, wraps, and salads. There is also a fully tended bar with a selection of beverages, including wines, sparkling wine, beers, premium spirits, and mixers like Fever Tree Tonics as well as the No1 Signature Spritz, debuting exclusively at this location.
The lounge is open daily from 05:00 to 21:00 and is accessible to all travellers, regardless of airline or ticket class. No 1 Lounges accept a Priority Pass and LoungeKey, subject to availability on the day. For added peace of mind, cardholders can reserve their space in advance for a small fee. Until the end of December, you can do this free with Amex Platinum (subject to a limit).
To celebrate the opening, No 1 are offering 20% off adult lounge entry when you book directly on their website. Use the code N1-LHRT2-DEC24 at checkout. This exclusive offer is live now and runs until 20th December 2024. Normal price is £40pp or a £6 reservation fee for those who wish to book in advance with their Priority or Lounge Pass.
KLM launch new route from Exeter
With Virgin’s unpopular changes to frequent flyer redemptions, it is definitely worth considering KLM and Air France. These do not have dynamic redemptions, and the taxes and charges are less than half the price of Virgin’s. If you live outside London, they make far more sense due to their regional network.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is now launching daily flights from Exeter Airport to Amsterdam Schiphol, beginning 30 March 2025. This marks a major milestone for both Exeter Airport and the South West, reconnecting the region with Amsterdam for the first time in almost five years and providing access to KLM’s extensive global network.
The route will be operated by KLM Cityhopper using an 88-seat Embraer 175. The flight time is around 90 minutes with departures from Amsterdam to Exeter at 16.15 local time, and from Exeter to Amsterdam at 17.20 local time, seven days a week.
JetBlue launch Edinburgh-Boston
I was very impressed when I flew JetBlue last autumn. The service, food and seats were all great (although I was not impressed with the service recovery when some onboard items were out of service). I would definitely fly them again.
JetBlue has launched two new routes to Madrid and Edinburgh. Starting 22 May 2025, JetBlue will introduce daily nonstop seasonal service between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD), marking its debut in Spain. JetBlue will also kick off daily seasonal flights between Boston Logan and Edinburgh Airport (EDI) in Scotland on the same day. This new route will join JetBlue’s summer seasonal service between New York’s JFK Airport and Edinburgh.
“Madrid and Edinburgh represent two of Europe’s most exciting and popular destinations, and we’re happy to offer even more transatlantic travel options for our customers from Boston and New England,” said Daniel Shurz, head of revenue, network and enterprise planning at JetBlue. “Europe continues to be part of our network strategy, as our loyal customers look for JetBlue’s signature service and low fares to bring them to top leisure destinations, including across the Atlantic.”
From New York-JFK, JetBlue serves Dublin and Edinburgh seasonally, while Amsterdam, London-Heathrow, and Paris are served year-round. Based on their popularity, returning routes to Dublin and Edinburgh have been extended this year to the end of October, a month later than the previous year.
Customers across JetBlue’s network can connect through Boston and New York as gateways to their next European adventure or, via Europe, both focus cities serve as a gateway to JetBlue’s many destinations throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America.
Flights to Madrid and Edinburgh will operate on JetBlue’s A321-series aircraft. These aircraft feature JetBlue’s Mint premium experience, with fully lie-flat private suite and restaurant-style small plates.
