20% off Qatar flights
Qatar is offering Privilege Club members up to 20% off a range of destinations such as Bangkok, Colombo and Muscat. THe discount is off the base fare only.
Simply log in to your Privilege Club account and book your next flight using promo code PCJUNE23 by 30 June 2023 for travel between 01 July 2023 – 31 March 2024.
There are not that many bargains on Qatar at the moment, but the 20% discount makes some of them reasonable value.
Here are a couple we found before any discounts:
- Edinburgh – Dubai £1,762
- Prague – Maldives (Male) £2,329
- Stockholm – Phuket £2,162
IHG One Rewards 100% Buy Bonus
Another IHG buy bonus has popped up with up to a 100% bonus when you buy points until 26 June. At the moment, it is always worth comparing cash with buying points, and this is the best offer IHG we usually see.
You can buy up to 250,000 points which makes 500,00 with the bonus. That would cost $2500.
You can find the buy points page here.
American Express will no longer provide pro-rate refunds of fees
One of the good things about the Amex cards has been that if you decided that you wanted to cancel the card after you had taken it out, you could get a pro-rata refund of the fees you had paid. Now according to Head For Points, this will no longer be the case. The change is due to take place on 2 October 2023. From that date, if you cancel your credit card, you will not receive any refund of the fees you have paid. Amex charge cards are not affected by the change. Cards that will be affected include the BA Amex, Marriott Bonvoy Amex, Platinum credit cards and the Gold Rewards Amex after the free first year.
I’d guess it is because too many people were simply taking out the card to get the bonus and then cancelling the card once they had cashed out the memberships rewards/Avios. I do have some sympathy with Amex here, as if people play the system, companies will have to limit their losses. Amex has already limited how frequently you can get a new card bonus. Hopefully, with fewer refunds, we may see even better perks on the cards.

Can the 20% discount be used against the OSL – DBX fare with Qatar (£1211 currently)? If so, that would be a real bargain!
Regarding the Qatar 20% discount offer valid for bookings made on or before 30th June 2023. It’s true Qatar offer this discount on most origin/destination points however it’s also true that Qatar has increased the fares so this is misleading. I’ve been monitoring destinations such as BKK and SGN for early February 2024 and the day before the offer was released was about 500/600 euros cheaper, same Business class cabin in Lite and Classic fares. So such offer is currently more expensive than before.
