3000 Bonus Avios on shopping
With Avios earning on flights now being spend-related and Topcashback stopping offering Avios as an alternative to cash, there are now two main ways to get an easy boost of Avios with everyday spending other than a credit card or Nectar.
I earn a lot of Avios through on line shopping through the British Airways shopping portal. Not only can you get it on most major online stores but you can also get Avios when you book with many travel companies such as Marriott and Booking.com. It is simple to do, and when you click through the portal, it will take you to the normal website for the company, so you get your normal loyalty points/bonuses, etc. The only thing you have to be wary of is entering voucher codes which can negate the transaction for Avios sometimes.
You can shop via the BA shopping portal website or via the Avios app on Apple store or Google (which was previously called the British Airways Executive Club app).
There is a special offer for new customers of the BA shopping portal so now may be the time to give it a go. You will get a 3000 bonus Avios on top of the regular Avios when you spend £40+ three times or more before 22 April. A new customer is one who has never made a transaction with a “Collect online” or “Collect in-store” merchant via Shopping through British Airwaysor with a “Shopping online” or “Shopping in-store” merchant via the Avios app before. Customers who have made a previous transaction that was cancelled are ineligible.
It is also worth noting that quite a few categories are excluded: Travel, Utilities and Telecoms, Banking and Insurance plus the following merchants: The Bicester Collection, Avios for Thoughts, The Wine Flyer, Nectar, The High Life Shop, BP, Dufry and eRewards.
Avios collection opportunities
It is also worth an update on where you can collect Avios in store/in person as well as through the website. You can now collect Avios at a number of restaurants, stores and other places simply by linking your account to a specific credit card and then using the same card in-store. If you choose an Avios collection credit card you can double dip (or even treble diop with cashback offers on some Amex cards).
You can register a credit or debit card by signing into the BA shopping portal website and going into the My Account section and scrolling down.
Here are some of the places you can collect in person:
- The Ivy Group – 5 Avios per £1
- Nuffield Health – 5 Avios per £1
- Big Easy – 10 Avios per £1
- Chotto Mate – 10 Avios per £1
- Go Ape – 7 Avios per £1
- Gaucho – 10 Avios per £1
- Harrys Bar – 10 Avios per £1
- STK – 10 Avios per £1
- L’Atelier Joel Rubuchon – 10 Avios per £1

Hi,
I have an Amex Platinum but can’t see the Luxury Escapes offer.
How do you register for this?
Thx Mike
A basic spell checker tool would do wonders for your site Michele ; P
Hi Michelle, I would agree that earning Avios through shopping is great, if it works properly.
Despite being well versed in using websites like Topcashback with very few issues, the BA Shopping site constantly fails to track. Last year I stopped using it after thousands of pounds of purchases went untracked. Claiming missing miles either gets no response or just the standard ‘sorry, it didn’t track’.
Wondering if I am the only person having this issue?
Sorry to hear that. Was it particular retailers? I use it regulalrly and so far have not had any issues with lack of tracking. Have you tried perhaps using different browsers with it? I use Chrome. I’d also be careful of anything like VPN or incognito mode etc
