Tokyo Haneda airport to get rooftop hot spring spa
Tokyo’s Haneda Airport is already well regarded as an airport and ranks as the second-best airport according to Skytrax’s 2021/2022 World Airport Survey. However, with its new development due to open at the end of the month, it will become even better. The Haneda Airport Garden is directly connected to Haneda Airport Terminal 3 and features a rooftop spa with a traditional hot spring onsen with four different bathing zones as well shops and restaurants.
The spa is part of a new hotel complex within the development but open to the public and non-hotel guests) 24 hours a day. The new hotels attached to the development are called the Hotel Villa Fontaine Premier (luxury) and Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand.
One of the reasons I love Changi airport is due to the outdoor swimming pool, so I would definitely be choosing Haneda as my airport of preference seeing the pictures of the spa. Haneda is usually my choice anyway, due to its proximity to the city.

Air Traffic Controllers in France to strike this week
A last-minute ATC strike has been announced by controllers in France (how unusual!) between 1700 GMT on the 18th of January until 0600 GMT on the 20th of January. It is expected to affect both airport towers and en route centres, so there could be delays for those flights due to overly. They do provide a minimum service, but until nearer the time, it is not clear how many cancellations if any there will be.
Virgin Hotels New York opening and Virgin Red offer
Virgin Hotels New York City is opening its doors and to celebrate the launch, Virgin Red members who book to stay before 30 April can earn 4,000 Virgin Points (instead of 2,000 points) per stay.
Located on the northwest corner of 30th Street and Broadway, it is situated in the heart of Manhattan’s NOMAD district, with Madison Square Garden, Herald Square and the Empire State Building, right on your doorstep. The hotel has several features I like the sound of such as The Pool Club, a rooftop bar and pool area and Everdene an indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge and dining experience.
All Virgin Red members need to do to boost their points balances is make sure that they’re also signed up to Virgin Hotels’ loyalty program, The Know, where they can get the best rates, room upgrades, and a stay tailored to their tastes such as personalised playlists, favourite drinks in the mini-fridge or the perfect pillow to match their sleep style.
Simply book directly with Virgin Hotels on virginhotels.com as a The Know and Virgin Red member, and you’ll earn 4,000 Virgin Points for stays from opening until 30 April, and 2,000 points for the rest of the year.
