New BA coffee now on board
If you are a fan of Grind coffee (I think it’s pretty good), then you will be pleased to hear that BA has launched a partnership with the British brand. Previously, BA has been offering Union coffee in its lounges and on short-haul flights. There has not been an announcement about a change for the lounges or long-haul flights.
I love an iced coffee, so it is great to see that a a ready-made Iced Caramel Latte will be available to purchase on short-haul along with Grind’s flat white, long black, and decaf black coffee. Buy on board is available on services departing Gatwick and Heathrow. Grind said it sent its Head of Coffee on flights to develop exclusive blends for drinking at altitude. They found that “the top fruit notes of coffee were slightly more mellow, but the bitterness was unchanged. The biggest aspect affected was sweetness, with notes like milk chocolate and caramel becoming less apparent compared to on the ground.”
An Arabica coffee with a more pronounced “milky sweetness and higher fruit note” was chosen for the exclusive blend.
Grind’s recognisable pink branding is being used on BA flights, with cups also featuring a drawing of an aircraft window looking out onto the wing, and the carrier’s Speedmarque logo.

Bicester Village sale – double Virgin points
Until 11 August 2024, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members can get extra savings at the Bicester Village Extraordinary Sale, plus earn double Virgin Points at the same time. Bicester Village is offering exclusive member access to the Private Sale this summer and offering up to 70% off the original retail price. The village is probably the best outlet site in the UK in my opinion and it has been built sympathetically so it’s a nice place to spend the day.
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members can earn double Virgin Points on sale purchases. Virgin Points can be spent on hundreds of different rewards across Flying Club and Virgin Red, from small treats to flights, concert tickets, and regular cruise offers. Virgin Points can also be used to save money on train tickets with Virgin Trains Ticketing. Personally, I find them much more versatile than Avios and redeeming with Air France/KLM can be great value due to the low cash component.
To claim the bonus points, you need to present proof of membership and shopping receipts at the Guest Concierge or Train Station or use the Village’s e-redemption service on the day of purchase.

BA Coffee : I grant this is shorthaul but as BA cabin crew if my colleagues would learn how to brew coffee on longhaul properly and not leave coffee bags as well as tea bags festering at the bottom of the brew pots, the whole tea and coffee offering would be elevated across the network. I always thought the English were the experts on tea but one more shock to my cultural knowledge since I got to BA ! (ex Qantas and Emirates)
