New Finnair sale bargains from £973
Finnair, a member of oneworld, has launched its new September sale, offering savings across its European and Asian network. The sale fares are available from the UK as well as other European starting points.
There are one way economy fares to the Finnish capital, Helsinki from as little as £84 from Edinburgh, or London or £94 from London and Manchester.
Those seeking an Arctic adventure in Finnish Lapland can fly on the Official Airline of Santa Claus to his Official Hometown, Rovaniemi, from Edinburgh or London for as little as £133 and £124 one-way, respectively.
Other Finnish destinations offering a winter wonderland experience are also included in the sale, with the airline cutting prices on its routes to Ivalo, Kuusamo and Kittilä with flights from the UK from £133 one-way.
Customers looking to travel further afield are also in luck, with a number of Finnair’s long-haul routes on offer from both London and Manchester.
Finnair customers can make the most of the special fares when booking flights between now and 26 September 2024, for travel between 1 October 2024 and 13 February 2025.
Finnair recently announced a 50% increase in flights between London and Helsinki, starting from 27 October 2024. With this, Finnair will now offer British customers six daily flights between the two capitals, showing its commitment to the UK market. The route from Manchester to Helsinki will also see an increase to double-daily flights starting from 27 October 2024, and the number of weekly flights from Edinburgh will increase to seven this winter season.
All Finnair long hauol aircraft feature their latest business class seats which you can read a review of here. They also use long haul flights daily on 1-2 flights per day from Heathrow.

Great new Amex offer get £350 off £700 spend on flights
Another new Amex offer has appeared with a substantial discount off a much lower minimum spend than usual. Often, Amex’s flight offers mean you will need to fly business class or have more than one person on the booking to qualify, but the United offer is very reasonable, with a minimum spend of just £700 to get £350 off. I have the offer on my Amex Platinum but it is likely to be on the Gold Preferred Rewards card as well.
To get the cashback, you need to make one or more transactions totaling £700+ by 23 October 2024. Unfortunately, it is limited to flights departing from UK airports.
There is also a not-quite-as-good offer on Turkish Airlines on the same card, which is for £100 back when you spend £700 or more. This has a longer time to make the minimum spend, with the cut-off being 2 December 2024. This is also restricted to flights departing UK airports, but like the United one, you don’t need to spend the whole £700 in one transaction.
Transfer points between MGM and Marriott Bonvoy
I have written a number of times about the new partnership between MGM hotels in the US (mainly in Vegas) and Marriott Bonvoy. Finally, a very handy new feature has arrived which will allow you to transfer points between the two loyalty programs. This will be very handy if you have some orphaned MGM points you want to use up.
There is a limit of 30,000 points per year that can be transferred between the schemes.
Here are the transfer rates:
- Marriott Bonvoy to MGM Rewards at 10:8
- MGM Rewards to Marriott Bonvoy at 10:8
There is a special tool which you will need to use to transfer the points.
You can find more information on the partnership here.

Hey, Michele – is it possible to move points from MGM to Marriot? I also have some points with MGM that I will never use, but I couldn’t find a way to move them into Marriot.
It is supposed to be possible but so far I have only seen people in the US able to actuallu access that function.
Ok thank you – I only have a handful of points but would love to find some use for them!
