Up to 20,000 Avios with The Wine Flyer
If you want to boost your Avios, it could be worth looking into buying wine through The Wine Flyer. This is an IAG Loyalty company where you can earn Avios on wine and other drinks. I used them for a special offer before Christmas and was pleased with the service I received.
The current Avios bonus for taking out a subscription is 3,500 bonus Avios on your first delivery, followed by up to 2,000 Avios on reoccurring subscription orders. The 3,500 is a limited-time special offer. You need to use the code SUPERSUB at check out.

Cathay Pacific reveals more of new business class for long haul
Cathay Pacific is long overdue for a new business class as their current seats are showing their age now. However, they still offer a 1-2-1 configuration at the moment. The new Aria suites are expected to be available from late Q2 of 2024 on their B777-300ER. Cathay, of course, are members of oneworld, so you can earn and redeem Avios on them as well as earning BA tier points.
This week they have released a new video which shows more of the seats as well as the new Premium Economy. The colour scheme is a real departure from the teal colour used before and looks very elegant. Features include a sliding door, wings to give more privacy when the door is open, wireless charging and a 24-inch 4K TV with Bluetooth pairing. There is even an indicator for toilet occupancy on your screen! Also, another unique feature will be the piece of artwork onboard that will be individual to each B777.

Avios and Tier Points are usually available on Cathay Pacific, but – to my astonishment – not on an I Class ticket, in spite of this being a paid Business Class ticket. In Oct 23 I flew MAN-HKG-NRT and return in Business Class, but got neither Tier Points nor Avios for the outward leg. Yet flying I Class with Qatar does earn Tier Points and Avios – Discuss! (And CX gives the same number of its own status points and miles to I Class tickets as to other Business Class tickets). So check which class you are buying, although some airlines make this very difficult to determine.
Thanks for pointing that out. Unfortauntely there are a number of “quirks” that appear in the system, some permanent and some due to BA not updating their systems that eventually get resolved. So it is always worth double checking the avios calculator before booking as you demonstrate!
