BA’s new A350 arrives today
EDIT: Sadly this was cancelled due to the delays and cancellations at Heathrow from the weather and ATC. BA rightly decided to prioritise the passenger aircraft for their slots. But I did get to meet my vlogging hero Sam Chui at least…..
Today I am lucky enough to be at Heathrow to witness the arrival of the first of 18 BA A350s. I will be publishing a full article with the first look at the A350 later today. Hopefully, we will be doing some videos on Youtube which you can find on our channel here and Instagram/Facebook. Before that, we will be sharing the first images of the aircraft and the new Club Cabin on Instagram and Facebook so make sure you follow us to see them first. The aircraft registration number, G-XWBA, is due to arrive at Heathrow at around 2pm. You can track it using FlightRadar24.
To whet your appetite here is a teaser from BA:
Tom Kerridge
BA have also announced an exclusive menu celebrating their centenary, made by Michelin-starred British chef, Tom Kerridge. Tom’s menu will be available on London Heathrow & Gatwick flights departing the UK throughout August, featuring in all cabins.
Up to 25% off Malaysia Airlines flights
Malaysia Airlines have a number of offers that you may have to spend some time working out which is one best for you! If you an Amex card I would start with that and see whether the promo code works for you. Malaysia fly their A350 from London which has a good business class seat, plus you can earn Avios and Tier points too.
Exclusive deal for American Express cardmembers
You can get up to 15% off selected Business & Economy Class fares when you travel from London to Bali, Sydney & more. The T & C do not state which other destinations are included, so it will be trial and error for the rest. Just use the promo code GOAMEXMH and book by 14 Aug 2019. You can travel now until 31 Jul 2020.
The card must be a UK registered card and you must pay for your fare in full with the Amex. It is only available for C/D/Z fare classes in Business Cabin and A/P fare classes in Business Suite cabin. The discount does not apply to any other promotional fare by Malaysia Airlines..
Here is how to use the code to see the reduced price:

Step 2: Search result will reflect the available flights based on promo code entered. Normal price with price strike-off will be clearly illustrated. Total price displayed is inclusive of discount.
Step 3: Cardmember can click “See price details” to view breakdown of fare in details.
Step 4: If Cardmember is agreeable with the flight selection and final price upon discount, he/she proceeds to confirm booking and payment by selecting American Express as choice of payment.

Malaysia previously had First class but like many airlines, they got rid of this not long ago. However, they still have the seats on the aircraft and are now calling it a Business Suite. You can read Paul’s review of Malaysia First class here since it is not really much different to Business Suite. The product is basically identical in terms of onboard service, food and amenities to the old First class. Lounges have been rebranded as Business Suites Golden Lounges in Kuala Lumpur and London.
The prices for the business suites in the sale are:
- Adelaide £4225
- Auckland £4505
- Brisbane £4305
- Kota Kinabalu (Borneo) £3579

Atlantis the Palm offer
Dubai’s most iconic resort, Atlantis, The Palm is offering a very cheap deal for September this year. But be warned it will still be pretty hot! Special prices start from USD $149 per night. You can read my review of Atlantis the Palm here.
The special offer page for Atlantis the Palm, Dubai is here.
Bali on Emirates business class return from £1599
I was impressed with my business class flights on Emirates A380 but they are usually pretty pricey. You can read my Emirates reviews here.
If you fancy Bali there is a good deal from Amsterdam which is a handy place to position out of, as I did when I flew with Emirates. Flights to Amsterdam are short, cheap, frequent and available from many regional airports. Emirates also fly their A380 from Amsterdam to Dubai which has its best business class seats.
The rules of the fare are:
- Book by: 31 July 2019
- Travel: Permitted 16 Jul 19through 30 Sep 19 on the first international sector. Prices after this are only around £100 more.
- Minimum stay: 5 nights
- Maximum stay: 1 month
- Stopovers: 2 free in Dubai
- Refundable: For a fee
- Changeable: For a fee
You can book direct with Emirates here or try Skyscanner to see if it is cheaper with an online travel agent.

Unrelated, but anyone heard about the Tesla limo service , Driven, mentioned on TLFL earlier this year? I’ve just had bookings for October cancelled and an email stating that due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ all bookings have been cancelled and refunds will be made.
I can’t see the BA tail number you mention on Flight Radar 24, and it’s not shown on BA flights between Toulouse and Heathrow?
Maybe a bit early? Once it is showing I will share on social media.
Gutted about her not making it but as I said on instagram all us FF’s know that these things happen & with fare carrying planes not being able to get on the ground there really was no way they could be landing an empty one – no matter how excited we were for it!
