Ritz-Carlton Tenerife offer
Tenerife may not be the first place that springs to mind when thinking of a luxury holiday, but there are a growing number of luxury and boutique hotels on the island. I went to stay at the Sandos San Blas 5* hotel a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised by Tenerife away from the busier parts.
You may be surprised to learn there is even a Ritz-Carlton hotel there. If you are a member of the BA Executive Club you can get a special discount on the Ritz-Carlton Abama. You can save up to 30% when booking before the 19 January 2018, plus free Ritz Kids Club access from 6pm until midnight for guests in Club Deluxe Rooms and Club Suites staying for a minimum seven nights. The offer is combinable with unlimited golf for guests in a Deluxe Ocean View room or above. You can use the offer for stays between 1 May 2018 and 30 September 2018.
Champneys offer
Every New Year we all feel like we are need of a new fitness routine and want to eat more healthily. If you fancy a spa break to kick things off, Champneys have a couple of offers on both their own website and through Secret Escapes. On Champneys website, they are offering a free spa day when you book 2 treatments, 40% off a one night stay, 50% off 2 nights or 60% off a 3-night stay. You can find the Champneys offer page here.
On Secret Escapes they are offering a one night stay from £214 per room for 2 people including meals and a Thalassotherapy treatment at Forest Mere in Hampshire. This was recently renovated (it certainly needed it from my last visit) and is on my list of places to revisit in 2018. This offer is better value than Champneys’ own offer as for £10 cheaper even after the booking fee, it includes a treatment as well. You will need to join Secret Escapes to book but it is free to do so here. You will also get £15 free credit towards your first booking by using this link.
Singapore Airlines sale and ex EU to NZ/Oz from £2150
Singapore Airlines’ sale is by no means cheap compared to other options from London but it is a great business class product. From super wide seats in a 1-2-1 layout to Lobster Thermidor on ‘Book the cook’ it is definitely a premium business class experience. I shall be reviewing Singapore’s business class product next month. The sale prices must be booked by 31 January 2018 and are available for travel until 12 December 2018.
- Thailand from £2189

- Singapore direct £2544
- Bali £2565
- Perth £2999
- Melbourne £3099
- Sydney £3099
- Auckland £3299
You can find the UK Singapore Airlines sale page here.
If you want to look at cheaper prices you could try routeing from Stockholm via Moscow. Sure, it’s a long way round but you would get extra tier points (on Star Alliance or Virgin Atlantic), extra miles and more time to enjoy their service! The prices from Stockholm start from around £2150 to Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth. The new A350 is currently being used on this route too. We booked our flights through Expedia as it lets you prebook the bulkhead seats (although whether this will stick remains to be seen).
KLM new business class rolls out on A330
Despite KLM often having some decent fares out of Amsterdam and the UK with good regional connections available, it’s not an airline I often consider. The reason for this was the variability of its long-haul business class with the A330s still having very old-fashioned sloping seats. All that is about to change this year though. There will still be some variation but at least they will all be flat beds by autumn 2018.
The best offering is currently the B787 with the reverse herringbone seats. Next are the B747s that have been fitted with the new seats which do have some single window seats and finally will be the A330 in a 2-2-2 configuration.
Four A330-300s are currently being refurbished with the last one expected to be completed in July 2018. KLM’s eight A330-200s will follow. Their refits are expected to be completed in October 2018. As well as 206cm fully flat beds the new seats with have HD quality entertainment with an 18″ screen. KLM are a member of Skyteam alliance.
