Swiss have been doing some great companion offers this year from various departure points and the latest offer is equally impressive. The deals are available from the UK which is even better at these prices. There are separate offers for both first and business class which both require 2 people to travel together. If you are interested don’t hang around as there is limited availability of these fares.
The rules are:
- Book by 2 September 2018
- Travel 15 August 2018 to 31 July 2019 (or 30 June 2019 for China)
- Minimum stay Saturday night or 6 days
- Non-refundable
- Non-changeable
- Fares are available from Manchester, London, Birmingham and Edinburgh

SWISS First for two
I have flown Swiss first class and would highly recommend it. It may not be as fancy as some of the Middle East airlines, but it is a sophisticated product with great food (including caviar) and service. Some of the prices are similar to what you would pay for a normal business class ticket, so they offer good value for money. Two people must travel together to get the sale price.
The prices start for 2 people from:
- Beijing (PEK) from £3999
- Dar es Salaam (DAR) £2999
- Delhi (DEL) from £2999
- Hong Kong (HKG) from £3999
- Johannesburg (JNB) from £4999
- Mumbai (BOM) from £2999
- Nairobi (NBO) from £2999
- São Paulo (GRU) from £3999
- Shanghai (PVG) from £3499

Business class offer
The Swiss cabins have a sophisticated feel to them with light wood with dark accents and seats. There is one flaw, in my opinion. The business class seats are not very comfortable for sleeping on the older A330 aircraft. They feel like they have a slight slope and are very low to the ground. They also had quite large gaps between the seat cushions when in bed mode. However, at these prices, you may well think it is worth it, even for the older aircraft. I found them perfectly comfortable for sitting. The new seats on the B777 are much better and a good quality product. The B777s are available on quite a few routes such as Zurich to Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong. You can see more about the Swiss B777 in this video.
You can’t earn Avios on Swiss but you can credit to any Star Alliance airline. If you like to fly Virgin Atlantic you could credit to Singapore Airlines, one of their partners, and redeem on Virgin Atlantic.
The business class fares start for two people from
- Bangkok (BKK) from £2499
- Beijing (PEK) from £2999
- Delhi (DEL) from £1999
- Hong Kong (HKG) from £2499
- Mumbai (BOM) from £1999
- Nairobi (NBO) from £1999
- Rio de Janeiro (GIG) from £2999
- São Paulo (GRU) from £2999
- Shanghai (PVG) from £2699
You can book and see the full range of destinations on the special Swiss offer page here.
Lufthansa offers
Some of the fares are also available on Lufthansa via Munich or Frankfurt when two people travel together. For business class, I would definitely choose Swiss due to the Lufthansa business class seats which are not great but for First, Lufthansa wins hands down.
Lufthansa First is still on my to-do list but all the people I know that have flown it have been impressed. The seats aren’t as fancy as the Etihad Apartment or the Singapore Suites but they do have some great features for their First Class product. The First terminal at Frankfurt is pretty special with private bedrooms, a huge selection of fine spirits, cocktails, great champagne and a Porsche chauffeur service to the aircraft. On board, they also have a caviar service and Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle champagne.
You can compare prices on Lufthansa here.
Qatar business class offers
We are still waiting for a good Qatar sale but today is the final day for the current UK based one for business class. The prices aren’t great but if they are from an airport close to you they are reasonable when you take into account the lack of hassle. If you don’t want to wait for an ex EU sale, it could be worth a look.

OT question:
I’ve just hit my 10k target this morning on my BAPP card account, states congrats you’ve earnt your 241 companion voucher.
What are the time scales for communication now, I believe they send you a confirmation email of hitting your spend requirements etc?
Thanks
You may be able to book before that. It will be in your BA account when you go to book with avios as it will ask if you wish to use a voucher when you try to book.
Thanks M.
No such luck, tried a dummy booking and no option at checkout to use a voucher.
FT thread only states email will be received promptly, how long does the confirmation email take on average and does that email indicate the voucher is ready to use or just that you have qualified.
I’m just trying to bag a 241 on a popular route 355 days out so timing is crucial so roughly needing to know how long from qualifying to voucher ready to use.
Just had a look at my email and I reckon it was less than a week from when I hit 10K.
Cheers for looking!
