After Qatar joined Avios recently, Finnair is the latest airline to join Avios as of today, 9 March. I will be interviewing Chris from IAG Loyalty (Avios) about what this means for Avios collectors, particularly those who are members of BA’s Executive Club.

Hi Michele
I listened to this podcast yesterday as I’m quite a fan of Finnair (having taken three flights in 2023 with their new seats in business) and am intending to use them for some more long-haul in the next year. There were a few mentions of the logistics being the same as linking a Qatar and a BA account together and an assumption was made that people would know how things would work for Finnair and BA when it goes live in Q2 (I think June 2024 was mentioned).
Could you please do a feature on explaining what you actually need to do to take advantage of Finnair avios if you don’t have a Qatar account and therefore don’t know how it works in practise. I assume I would need to open a Finnair account and link it with BA – do you get a different oneworld number or the same one?
A beginners guide would be very helpful in three months time.
thanks
Hi Lou. No problem at all. When it is delivered I will make sure I do some screenshots to explain it all.
