This article will look at the current routes for summer 2026 that have the new Club Suites business class or offer First class. I will also look at the rest of the refurbishment program for Club Suites and when we can expect to see the new First Class suites.
In this post:
Club Suites
Roll out update
Heathrow
85 widebody aircraft (71% of BA’s long –haul fleet at London Heathrow) are configured with the new Club Suite business
class product.
- A350 – 18 aircraft (100%)
- B777 – 47 aircraft (100% of Heathrow-based B777s)
- B787 – 20 aircraft
- B787-8 (100%)
- B787-9 (2 out of 18 completed)
- B787-10 (100%)
- A380 – 0 aircraft
Gatwick
In March 2026, BA finally announced that it would be replacing its wide-body aircraft at Gatwick, which means the route will finally get Club Suites with the delivery of the new aircraft. The bad news is that the first of British Airways’ new Boeing 787-10 aircraft won’t be delivered to Gatwick until 2029, but deliveries will continue into the early 2030s.
How to tell if your flight has Club Suites
You can find a fuller answer to this question in our article here. Looking at Google Flights can be a quick way to check the aircraft type before you book, as it should say “Individual suite” for Club Suite. You should still double-check the seat map when you book, as well, since Google can take a day or two to update when they change types.
Otherwise, you can tell by the aircraft type, route or seat map.
- all A380s currently have the old seats,
- all Gatwick aircraft have the old seats
- On the seat plan, there will be 4 seats across instead of 8.

First Class
There are several types of First currently offered by British Airways. The newest is the enhanced First Suite with a privacy door available on all 13 of their Heathrow B777-300s. You can read our review here.
As well as that, each aircraft type has a slightly different seat:
- B787 – these do not feature the buddy seat for dining, and the TV screen is fixed. It is similar in design to the suite but without the door.
- A380 – these have a large wardrobe big enough for a wheelie bag. The A380 seats have a buddy seat and a movable TV screen.
- B777 these also have a buddy seat and a movable TV screen.
You can find reviews and photos of all the different first class seats here.
New first class suites
There will also be a completely new first class suite, which is due to be installed on the A380 in a cabin of 12.
- Dimensions: The seat is 36.5 inches wide (the widest in the fleet) and converts into a 79-inch (2-meter) fully rectangular lie-flat bed.
- Privacy: Each suite is enclosed by a 60-inch tall curved wall and includes a sliding privacy door.
- Technology: Features a 32-inch 4K touchscreen display, a 10-inch wireless tablet for seat and light controls, Bluetooth audio, and wireless charging alongside USB-A and USB-C ports.
- Storage: A personal full-height wardrobe designed to fit a standard cabin trolley bag allows the airline to remove overhead bins for a more open cabin feel. There is also a secure drawer and handbag space as well as a mini bar area.
- Buddy Dining: A multi-purpose ottoman and a large stowable table allow two passengers to dine together in one suite.
- Shared Lounge Space: The divider between middle seats can be fully retracted, creating a “shared lounge” for couples that allows them to walk between suites.

Here is the timeline of the new suites being retrofitted to the A380 and B777X.
- Q2 2026: Refit work is expected to begin on the first aircraft.
- Mid-to-Late 2026: The first retrofitted A380 is expected to enter commercial service.
- 2027–2028: Completion of the retrofit across all 12 of BA’s A380s.
- End of 2027 (at the earliest): The new suite will also be featured on the upcoming Boeing 777-9 fleet once deliveries begin.

Thanks for letting me know.

Very useful but there is no mention of the new BA flights to St Louis in the States. Also, do we have any clue as to which routes will be using the refurbished A380 first class?
Don’t know how I missed that when I’m flying the route next week!!
Would be very interested to read a review of your St Louis flight. I remember the last direct London/ St Louis flights with TWA and it has long been a mystery as to why we have had to wait so many years for BA to restore the route
Hmmmmm……any reason why both Nigeria flights have First?
Also, only SCL in S. America?
